Here is a delicious variation of the conventional grits recipe. Baked Grits Recipe by Mrs. Diana Bird, Horseshoe Hollow Farm, Washington, Va. ' 1 cup grits 1 cup water 1 teaspoon salt

1 clove garlic, marshed (optional)

1 quart milk Vi stick butter */« pound grated cheese - longhorn cheddar or other

2 beaten eggs

Put grits into boiling water with salt and garlic. Cook and stir till thick. Add milk a cup at a time, continuing to cook till milk is absorbed. Remove from heat and add, one at a time and blending each: butter, cheese and eggs. Grease a 2 quart casserole and pour grits mixture into it. Bake in oven for 45 minutes to one hour at 300 degrees F. This serves 6-8
