Signs Ignored
Jim White from Wakefield District reported that hunters had ignored posted signs on his property and fired across the back of his house into a grove of trees where his grandchildren normally played. Not only were the hunters standing in the road when they shot, he said, they were leaning on the sign that said “posted.”
White supported passage of the ordinances as a tool to help the game warden enforce existing laws against road hunting.
Jean Morris, who lives on Route 612 in Old Hollow, told the supervisors that she went to school with her 13year-old daughter during hunting season rather than let the youngster walk a half mile alone to the bus stop. Mrs. Morris said she feared for her daughter’s safety because of the hunters who cruise up and down Route 612 with rifles poking out the windows of their pick-ups. She called for passage of the
