driving a ’78 Toyota struck and killed a deer near Skyline Drive, Baines reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at S500.
On Route 729 near Estes a 1979 Ford pickup operated by Douglas William Orye of Warrenton and a ’75 Chevrolet driven by James Robert Dugger of Amissville collided. Orye was traveling north on Route 729 when he rounded a curve and met Dugger, swerved to avoid him, skidded and struck Dugger. according to Trooper H; A. Newlin.
Walter Wyne Nichols, John Lee May and Maudie Virginia Dugger, all of Amissville and all passengers with Dugger, sustained injuries the officer said. Dugger also received some injury.
As these vehicles remained in the road until service arrived, a 1980 Chevrolet pickup driven by Carl John Law of Amissville heading south on 729, came over a hill, saw the accident and stopped. As he attempted to go around the crash scene, the rear end of his- pickup slid around and hit the Dugger pickup, said Newlin.
