the Conservation Council of Virginia, he’s served on Fairfax County’s Environmental Quality Advisory Council, VPI’s Forestry and Wildlife Sciences Advisory Committee, Virginia Soil Conservation Commission’s advisory committee and the Virginia surface mining task force put together by the Governor’s Council on Environment.
Dennis has worked for the Conservation Foundation, the Central Atlantic Environment Center, the Izaak Walton League of America and the Natural Resources Council of America.
His efforts in the field have not gone unnoticed. In 1971, he received the Virginia Izaak Walton League’s award as “Virginia Conservationist of the Year” and the Izaak Walton League of America's National Conservation Award. In 1972, he was named “Water Conservationist of the Year” by the Virginia Wildlife Federation.
