NOTICE OF HEARING ON

EXPERIMENTAL

DISCOUNTED TOLL RATES

After hearing, in December, 1979, the Commission approved on an experimental basis, optional discounted rates for direct dial calling between proximate exchanges demonstrating sufficient community of interest. This optional service, offered by several telephone companies, is called Circle Calling.

Central Telephone Company of Virginia offers Circle Calling in 6 of its 56 exchanges meeting the community of interest standard set for the experimental service offering. A listing of these exchanges and the points that can be called can be obtained at the local Business Office of the Telephone Company.

The State Corporation has scheduled a hearing on December 8, 1980, commencing at 2:00 p.m. for the purpose of hearing from the public on whether the experimental Circle Calling service should remain in effect on a permanent basis.
