Miss Elizabeth Brown, admissions officer of St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland, attended classes and visited with students and faculty at Wakefield School in Huntly, Virginia this past Monday, November 10. In a special session with preparatory students, she spoke about St. John’s nationally acclaimed “Great Books” curriculum and admissions requirements.
Speaking for St. John’s College, the third oldest college in the United States, Miss Brown emphasized the " significance of a wellrounded, humanistic education and cautioned students about specializing too early in their careers.
While visiting Wakefield School, one of the few schools in the country, Miss Brown said, where St. John’s has made an attempt to recruit students in recent months, she noted the compatibility of the Wakefield curriculum and academic program of study with the undergraduate program at St. John’s.
