After struggling along on a minimum wage that doesn’t even pretend to keep up with inflation, many decide they can put up with traffic, high crime rates, pollution and the noise of city streets after all.
Susan thinks she’s one of the lucky ones. She’s turned a “just for fun” weaving course that she took at a Colorado Community College into a profession. In her apartment over Natures Foods on Washington’s square, she sends a shuttle flying back and forth across the threads of a loom, creating masterpieces of fabric that will be transformed into designer fashions.
Along with the fabric, she’s created a career that lets her be her own boss, working in her country apartment-studio at a craft she's been obsessed with since she took that first weaving class.
