ine Kappanannock branch of the NAACP is sponsoring a black history contest open to all high school students. The aim of the contest is to create an I interest in the achievements and contributions of black Americans.

Cash prizes of $10 for first place. $5 for second and $3 for third will be awarded in each of four categories: art, essay, public speaking and poetry.

In the art category, drawings and paintings must relate to the struggles of •black Americans. Essays of 300 to 500 words may be written on any topic relating to the struggles, achievements and contributions of black Americans.
