RAA has had four good years with its youth league program, providing scores of youngsters with a chance to have fun playing ball at the same time they learn the importance of team work, cooperation and sportsmanship.
Foster, who is also president of the RAA, points with justifiable pride to the organization's success and to its sound financial condition, thanks to the support of individuals and local civic groups and businesses.
Sound does not mean rich, however, and with the additional Babe Ruth program, added support in terms of money and service will be required. Foster emphasized.
So as not to jeopardize present RAA programs, contributions earmarked for the Babe Ruth League are being sought. Needed right now are donations to pay initial league fees and insurance. Also needed will be additional equipment before try-outs and practice get started, and uniforms by opening day in early May.
A player registration fee will offset some of the operating costs but this will be depleted quickly. Registration fees assure, however, that each player will carry at least some of the load, Foster noted.
