The announcement last month of a rate increase application by Central Telephone Company of Virginia sparked objections from local government officials who feel that any increase in rates should be tied to an improvement in the utility’s service record.
The Rappahannock Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution to join commonwealth’s attorney Douglas Baumgardner in fighting Centel’s application to the State Corporation Commission unless problems with noise on the lines, difficulty in making long distance connections, interruptions in long distance calls and delays in getting phones installed and repaired are resolved.
