There will be food service in ‘‘The Go Down,” basement pub that looks more private clubbish than bar. “It will be for diners primarily, not for people to drift in and out from the street just to drink,” she emphasized. It’s not mandatory for customers to order a full soup-to-desert meal just to be served alcoholic beverages, however. “There will always be a place for our professional people to come in the afternoon to discuss business over drinks and light refreshment,” Peggy noted.
“We're trying to make the Corner Post a pleasing place. We’re not competing with anyone and we’re aiming primarily at local people,” she continued. As part of that effort, Peggy welcomes women who want to drop by in the morning for an informal coffee klatch. She’ll also close The Go Down lounge for private groups in addition to reserving the 25 seating capacity conference room. Peggy also invited people who plan on dining at The Corner Post on a regular basis to make their special dietary needs known: for instance, a meal that contains no sugar or no salt.
