Earlier this month, the Culpeper - Rappahannock social recreation group for retarded persons visited Mountain View Farm near Washington, the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Sharp, for an afternoon of apple picking and picnicking.
After filling their baskets with Red and Golden Delicious, Stayman and Winesaps, the apple pickers enjoyed a tour of the farm on a hay ride. Later, they helped prepare a “chuck wagon” supper by the pond.
The outing was part of the social recreation program instituted last April by parents and concerned citizens who saw a need for increasing experiences and improving social skills for mentally retarded teenagers and adults. The group now numbers 18 participants who meet once a week from 4:30
