In addition to teaching many new skills, the social program gives retarded teens and adults the opportunity to increase their self-confidence. Bolstering this group and providing positive role models in a marvelous core of Share-a-Care volunteers, according to Addie Olsen, coordinator of volunteer services for the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Center.
Sally Sharp is one of those loyal Share-a-Care volunteers who meets regularly at the Center’s offices in Culpeper. She has offered to transport mentally retarded residents of Rappahannock County to Culpeper on the fourth Monday of each month so they can participate in the social recreation group.
