Not only will the current recipients have the hours they receive help cut by 33 percent: the reduction in funding has made it impossible for the welfare department to take any new clients unless they lose or drop a client they already have, according to Reeve.
She noted that companion services is an optional program, the single program provided by Rappahannock County that is not mandated by federal and state government, and therefore one that has always been restricted to some degree.
