The carved furniture, leaded glass, tapestries and oil paintings, banquet table and chairs are all features of his native Switzerland. The vaulted entrance hall is lighted by a stained glass window. The spacious grounds contain a tennis court, swimming pool, greenhouse and lake.
Trinity Episcopal Church was built in 1857 by James Leake Powers who served his apprenticeship under Thomas Jefferson and is of a country Gothic design. The white stucco structure has at tall steeple and is illuminated , by day "with " stained glasi windows.‘"A Rogers organ has recently been installed as a memorial. The church parish house also serves as a meeting place for many civic organizations and community activities.
At the Historical Society building on both days of the tour, apple fritters will be sold to hungry patrons. The building also offers the opportunity for genealogical research to county families. Helen McKay, a local artist, will have a display of her paintings in the building, and maps, post cards, books and the new walking tour brochure of the town will be for sale there.
At the Library a bookbinding demonstration will be in progress, and in the town near the flower salesroom, the ladies of the First Baptist Church will sell box lunches.
