and this particular year things have gone awry. Someone has stolen the letters, and Santa himself has come to discover the culprit. He arrives on the wharf in Toyland disguised as a pirate only to have his anonymity jeopardized by a trio of meddlesome elves who have trailed him from the Nortlj Pole, hoping,to help.
One elf. Barnaby. a sixfooter who has never quite fit in with the rest of the elves, ignores Santa's command to return to the Pole and joins forces with Jennifer, a little Toyland girl, to catch the hard-hearted mail burglar. In their search for the letters the two run into another pirate, who. although bungling, is indeed a “real” pirate. In fact, he offhandedly admits to perpetrating the Christmas letter caper. What follows this confession is an amusing series of events that leads to a happy Christmas conclusion.
“ ‘Santa's Toyland Adventure’. conveys not only the magic and gaiety of Christmas, but also a variety of important values to its young viewers." explains artistic director Bruce Miller. "They learn that people are not always as they seem and that being different from others can often be a plus." Theater IV* on Tour is supported in part by a grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
