To offset federal budget cuts that have left Sursum Corda School with a $54,000 loss in its operating budget, representatives from Rappahannock’s only day care center came before the board of supervisors on Monday to ask for financial support.
Diana Bird, president of Sursum Corda's board of directors, requested the county contribute $300 per month for the remainder of this fiscal year and to enter the same amount in the county budget for 1982-83.
The day care center which is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. currently has 38 children in its infanttoddler and nursery school programs. According to Bird, its operation has been severely hampered by federal budget cuts to (1) CETA which paid salaries of staff
