rejected, the House may come up with a plan that would create single-member districts, many of which would split local jurisdictional boundaries. The latest plan puts Rappahannock in a singlemember district with Shenandoah and Warren counties. In a plan approved in April but declared unconstitutional by the federal court in August, Rappahannock was put in a single-member district with Garke, Page and Warren counties. Del. George P. Beard, a Republican elected this year in a district including Fauquier and Culpeper counties, said this week that he doubted the Senate would override Dalton’s veto of the latest plan, primarily because the Senate approved the plan by a narrow 19-15 margin.
Because the two-member district plan keeps Culpeper and Fauquie^ intact, Beard said, he will support the plan and would support a motion to override the veto.
Beard added that if the latest plan is defeated, new plans that may be offered would split local boundaries. He said one such plan, developed by Del. J. Samuel Glascock (D-Suffolk), would split Fauquier into two single-member districts.
