Eighth grader Jonathan Watson had his finger on the buzzer before the question was even finished. “John Glenn,” he answered with authority. The correct answer gave Rappahannock’s squad ten points and the right to try the bonus questions. Jonathan’s swift and sure response also erased most of the pre-game'jitters that had plagued his older team mates, sophomore James Dennis and juniors Ann Oliver and Cheryl Atkins.
Cool, calm and collected RCHS captain Oliver knocked off five questions in a row and Rappahannock led 100 to 85 at the break.
But in the half-time battle of the slide show, St. AnneBellfield was clearly the victor. It was fortunate that the intimidating presentation came AFTER the kids from Rappahannock had already demonstrated their intellectual prowess. The
