Potomac Edison will dispatch helicopters to inspect electric lines during the month of Februrary as part of the utility’s preventive maintenance program.
“We’re looking for anything that might eventually cause a problem so we can dispatch a ground crew and repair it as quickly as possible,” said PE’s assistant division manager, Jim Poffenberger.
The helicopter, which carries a pilot and PE observer noting and recording any problems, will patrol about 8,000 miles of line in the utility’s three-state service before mid-year.
