Jerry and Rose Foster, with their niece Rhonda, have reopened the Hillsdale Grocery on Route 211 east of Massie’s Corner. The Fosters, who are leasing the familiar Rappahannock business, have completely remodeled the inside of the store and are stocked and ready for customers.
“We’ll offer traditional country store merchandise,” Rose said. “But as we grow, we hope to add what our customers want.” Rhonda pointed out a note pad kept at the counter to record customers’ orders and requests.
“This is how we plan to grow,” said Rose. “For instance, to start out we have two different types of dog food. As we find out what our customers feed their dogs, we’ll change and add.”
Rose and Rhonda will be at the store during the day, with Jerry helping out at night. This enterprise represents many months of
