wnn me ueauune passeci ior candidates to file, Rappahannock’s voters know the slate they will have to choose from in the November 8 general elections.
They now have an opportunity to make informed, intelligent decisions on who they want at the helm in Rappahannock County for the next four years.
In state and national elections, we have to depend on others to provide the information for our decisions. We read in the news media and hear on radio and television w here the candidates stand on issues and what they hope to achieve during their terms in office. But in the upcoming general elections, we can get that same information first hand.
The Rappahannock County Women’s Club plans to hold a “meet the candidates” forum again, the same service that the club performed four years ago. The Rappahannock County Democratic Committee reportedly intends to do the same.
At these meetings, local voters can ask the questions they want to have answered by the office seekers. And they can hear the answers themselves, rather than rely on a reporter or newscaster to filter the information.
We urge other civic groups to provide this same community service. There’s a race for the supervisor’s seat in Jackson District. We hope the Amissville Ruritans will schedule a forum there. Stonewall-Hawthorne voters will have to choose between two candidates. Maybe the Rappa
