Leaks have been a problem the past week, Miller said, causing the water to be shut off in the town. One leak was discovered behind the Jenkins house on Gay Street and corrected by the new town water works employee, Ray Pullen. Another leak is suspected behind the Episcopal Church.
Council members noted that water had been muddy. “My water was real muddy and still is,” Taylor Updike said.
“You’re just not using enough water to clear your lines, Taylor,” said Miller, adding that water in other parts of the the town ran clear.
“I don’t really care,” Updike joked. “That way I don’t have to put as much coffee in the pot.”
