Representative D. French Slaughter, Jr. will send his District Representative Jane Clatterbuck to Rappahannock County on Wednesday, January 8,1986.
Mrs. Clatterbuck will be available to talk with constituents who have problems of a Federal nature, such as with the Social Security Administration, Department of Labor, Immigration and Naturalization Service, IRS, Office of Personnel Management, Veterans Administration, etc., with which they need assistance, or who wish to express their opinions on national legislative issues, or simply to discuss matters of concern.
She will be at the Courthouse from 10:30 to 11:30 a. m.
Social Security number
People in Rappahannock area who plan to apply for a Social Security number should remember to apply at least two weeks before they will need the number, Bruce A. Hundley, Social Security manager in Culpeper, said recently.
It takes this time to process the application, evaluate the evidence, search the files at Social Security headquarters, and to issue and mail the Social Security number card.
When applying, a person must have evidence of age, identity, and citizenship or legal alien status, Hundley said. In addition, a person 18 or over applying for the first time must apply in person. The best evidence of age and citizenship is a public record of birth issued before age 5. If this is not available, religious records established before age 5 may be considered. Other evidence may be submitted only if these are not available.
Evidence of identity can be any document establishing identification data such as a physical description, photograph, or signature. Examples include driver’s license, voter registration, school record, report card, marriage record, military ID, building pass, clinic or organization membership card.
