On another matter, the Commission recommended that a special use permit be granted to Jim Oyster to park a mobile home temporarily on his property for housing while he builds a permanent dwelling in which to live. The Commission emphasized that as soon as an occupancy permit is issued for the new house, that the special use permit will be invalidated.

The Commission moved that Jim and Betty Settle’s request for a variance from sideyard regulations be sent to the BZA without recommendation. “They went ahead and built it without a building permit,” said Commission chairman Newbill Miller.

“A semi-judicial judgment must be made. The BZA in a way sit as judges and they will decide whether the building has to be taken down or not. They have a precedent.”, said Mr. Miller.

William Remington’s request for a special use permit to construct a single family dwelling on a 56.8 acre parcel that already has an existing tenent house was approved by the Commission. The property is located at the intersection of Routes 628 and 659 in the Wakefield District.
