Students from Wakefield participated in the Christmas writing contest that was held recently by the Samuels Library in Front Royal. Students in grades 1-8 were asked to submit stories or poems with a Christmas theme.
The following students won first place awards: Alex Kelley, of Castleton, 1st grade; Alison Martin, of Washington, 6th grade; Amy Yam, of Front Royal, 7th grade; and Stephen Landis, of Front Royal, 8th grade.
Second place awards were received by Cora Monahan, of Boston, 1st grade; Eben Darling, of Rixeyville, 3rd grade; Christiana Williams, of Front Royal, 4th grade;
