Church plans Halloween party
A Halloween party will be given at the Sperryville United Methodist Church Thursday, October 30, from 7 to 8 p.m. All children in the area are invited. Costumes will be judged.
All Hallow’s Eve Art Carnival
Come celebrate the magic of creativity at an All Hallow’s Eve Art Carnival, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, October 31,at the Middle Street Gallery, Washington.
According to a spokesperson there will be magic art of all kinds including a performance ritual beginning at 8:30 p.m. Audience participation is invited. Scheduled performances include belly dancing by Anthea, poetpr by Cathy Kiley, jazz guitar by Durrell Jackson, poetry by easy martin, and mime/dance/story telling by Marque Kolack. Sister Feenie will be there with healing rocks and gems, an organizer said. There will be candy and games for the young and the young at heart. A $1 donation is requested.
4-H Teen Club to meet
The Rappahannock 4-H Teen Club is holding a meeting November 6 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington. This meeting is open to all teens interested in joining the 4-H club. Election of officers will be held. “Come join us, we’d like to introduce you to the fun of being in 4-H,” said an organizer.
Dance at Amissville
A dance sponsored by the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will be held Saturday, November 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proper dress is required and persons attending must be 21 years of age. The band Royal Tones will be performing. For reservations or additional information call 937-4357.
Extension achievement night
The Rappahannock Extension Homemakers achievement night will be held on Monday, November 3, at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Washington. All county homemakers are urged to attend.
Adventure Team to meet
The Rappahannock Adventure Team 4-H Club will meet November 12 at 3:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. Anyone interested in joining the club is encouraged to attend.
Watercolors at Middle Street Gallery
Lynette Nicholas of Rappahannock County will show a selection of her ‘Watercolor Transitions” entitled Sunrise-Sunset at the Middle Street Gallery, beginning Sunday. Landscape painter Gary Genther will also be exhibiting his work.
A reception to open the exhibit will be held this Sunday, November 2 from 1 to 8 p.m. Ms. Nicholas said she uses color vibrations to create light transitions, a unique style she has been developing for three years. Mr. Genther paints with egg tempura and other watercolor media. He teaches art at Wakefield School. For more information call the Gallery at 675-3440.
