The regular monthly meeting of the Rappahannock County Garden Club was held on Wednesday, October 15 at “Breidablikk,” the home of Mrs. Harald Havstad.
The afternoon’s program was about the annual Environmental Education Skills Workshop offered by the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs at its Nature Camp in the George Washington National Forest. Three RCGC members who attended the workshop (Mrs. Joseph Nordone, Mrs. Frank Gannon and Mrs. George Sharp) reported on the workshop and its goals, techniques and concepts.
The goal of this workshop is to help individuals develop the skills and motivation to interact with their environment at many different levels. Primary activities were participating in collecting, recording and interpreting information about different parts of the environment and then applying these interpretations by analyzing physical, social and economic impacts on the environment in a variety of situations.
