If the voter’s answer is in the affirmative our prosecutors - society’s lawyers - will have the opportunity to have these judge’s decisions reviewed by higher courts. And fewer criminals may go free.
Adoption of this amendment will not infringe upon the rights of defendants. Prosecutors still won’t be able to appeal verdicts, as defendants can and do.
Instead, the Commonwealth’s Right of Appeal amendment will balance of the scales of justice, helping to level the playing field for both the accused and society.
This amendment also will strengthen our law enforcement agencies, heightening their morale and enabling them to do a better job.
