Lavonne Gay Adkins, daughter of Mrs. Louise Adkins of Washing* ton and Mr* Janies W. Adkins of Front Royal and Patrick Miller Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Lee of Washington exchanged wedding vows at 4:00 o’clock on October 22, 1988, before family and friends at the Washington Baptist Church.
The Reverend Milton Switzer performed the double ring ceremony. The church was decorated with burgundy and white marigolds. Mrs. Carolyn Gallagher of Catlett was the organist and George Ingram, a student at Shenandoah College and Conservatory in Winchester was the soloist. He sang The Lord’s Prayer and “Oh Promise Me, Oh Promise Me.”
The bride escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents wore a gown of white satin trimmed in Alencon lace with sprays of seed pearls and iridescent irises. The empire waist flowed into a full skirt with a formal train accented by motifs of rose lace. The illusion veil fell from a tiara of seed pearls and iridescent irises. The bride carried a bouquet of coral and white rose sprays with lace and pearls.
Louise Adkins, mother of the bride, was the matron of honor, ghe wore a burgundy taffeta gown accented with a full jacket of ivory lace. She carried a bouquet of peach rose sprays, peach tiger lilies, and white roses with pearls.
