RAAC's Community Christmas
RAAC’s annual Community Christmas celebration will be held Saturday, Dec. 17 in Washington. The festivities are free to the public, as are the refreshments and the Christmas movie that follows. The celebration begins at 6:15 at the town Christmas tree across from the theater on the courthouse grounds. The tree will be lit, and the crowd will proceed to the Gay St. Theater, where a program of music and drama is planned. Christmas carols on guitar will be led by Jon Heddleston. Rappahannock High School performers will do a medley of scenes from their production of “Scrooge,” presented in full the previous night at the High School. As always, Santa will appear, and will read the classic “Night Before Christmas” to the assembled children. Everyone will be treated to free Christmas goodies, and a showing of the film “Babes in Toyland,” will follow, also free of charge. Please join Rappahannock neighbors and friends for a family-centered holiday celebration.
Recycling Day Dec. 17
RALLY will sponsor another monthly Recycling Day at the Rappahannock County Park on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 9-11 a.m. The truck will accept newspapers (please bag or bundle with natural materials, no plastics or synthetics), glass (rinse and separate into clear, amber and green), aluminum, plastics, and styrofoam and cardboard egg cartons. Participants are also invited to bring a mug along, there will be cider, courtesy of Skyline Cold Storage; and donuts, courtesy of Donut Express in Front Royal.
