A social responsibility This week, Dec. 11-17, is the sixth annual observance of
“Virginia Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Week.”
The theme this year is an apt one during the holiday season: “First a Friend, Then a Host.”
The statistics are staggering: on an average Saturday
night, one in 10 drivers on the road are legally impaired.
And during the holidays, the temptation to drink and
drive becomes even greater than during the rest of the year.
There are more parties, and in the festive atmosphere it is
easy to partake of one — or a few — too many.
