managed to wrestle the gun from Mr. Leake’s hand and knocked him to the ground, where they held him until sheriffs deputies arrived.
According to witnesses, Mr. Leake suffered head and rib injuries in the scuffle.
Mr. Leake appeared Wednesday afternoon for a bond hearing before Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Judge A. Burke Hertz. He denied attorney James W. Fletcher Ill’s request that Mr. Leake be released on bond. Judge Hertz ordered that Mr. Leake be held without bond pending the results and review of a psychiatric examination.
Subsequent charges were filed in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. However, the records of that court are not open to the public, and no information was available about them.
At press time, there had been no further hearings in the case.
