“Where did all these guys come from?” quiered Mr. Katt, a one-eyed orange tiger. “I counted 200!”
“Everywhere,” replied Tabby. No cat is too sick, abused, hurt or unwanted for Shirley. She loves each one of us as if she only had one.”
“And Dan always helps,” Fluffy added, pleased to contribute to the conversation.
“Times have been,” continued Tabby, “when we didn’t have enough food and Dan and Shirley gave us theirs.” Tabby’s yellow eyes were bright with love. “We don’t have a ‘D-Day’ to fear. We live in a ‘no-kill’ shelter.”
“What if Shirley gets sick and can’t take care of us?” worried Tiger and Panther.
“Let me tell!” chimed in Elvira, who was so black only her green eyes could be seen in the dim light. “Shirley has had three brain surgeries in two years. “That’s inside here,” Elvira explained, lifting a dainty paw to her head for emphasis. “The Lord keeps giving her life back to her.”
