The Christmas tree for the
Town of Washington was officially lighted last Tuesday evening. The beautifully illuminated large evergreen is located on the lot between the fire house and Rappahannock National Bank. The tree was trimmed in celebration of the Holy Season and for the pleasure of all who pass.
A group of citizens met Friday night at Washington to discuss the high voltage transmission power line proposedAy Potomac Edison Company which would go through Rappahannock County. Sixty odd people attended to hear the pros and cons of such a line. Philip Irwin of Flint Hill chaired the meeting and was subsequently named as chairman of a committee to further the study on a workable alternative and the legal aspects of a defense to the line.
