The tensions associated with war hang over the county like a pall, weighing the shoulders of Rappahannock residents as they face the uncertain outcome of the Persian Gulf conflict.
A sadness and fear is associated with this tension — fear of what may occur next in the war against Iraq and sadness that some soldiers serving in Operation Desert Storm may be injured or killed. There is concern for theii* neighbors too, especially those with relatives serving in the Gulf.
Sometimes a quiet place, a quiet time, a quiet prayer can ease these feelings and pressures.
