So the name Lent was given to that springtime period of forty fast days from Ash Wednesday until Easter.
Lent came to mean a time of penitence. And it is. But it is also a time of preparation, and of promise, For because Lent means Spring, it heralds good things to come. It forecasts the glorious message of Eastenjt is the dawn of the most beautiful season of the year.
