Christmas brings to mind wrapping paper and bright lights and turkey dinner and pumpkin pie.
The image may be tainted for some.
Trying to add color—and flavor—back to the season, the Rappahannock County Department of Social Services provides food baskets for needy families around the county.
Filled with turkeys, potatos, vegetables, cake mixes, flour, sugar and other necessary items, the baskets are a charity the office personnel provides each year.
There is no finding from state or federal resources. Donations from businesses, community groups, churches, civic organizations, schools and individuals support this seasonal charity.
This year, the donations are low.
