The deer harvest in Rappahannock is down slightly this year, according to Game Warden Jim Bankston.
Although totals for the number of deer killed won’t be available until later in the season, Mr. Bankston said the weak economy and looser bag limits in Shenandoah Valley counties have resulted in fewer outof-county hunters coming into Rappahannock this year.
He said complaints are down, out-of-county license sales are down and radio traffic in other counties is also down, leading him to conclude the regional deer harvest may have seen the same drop as Rappahannock.
