The newly renovated and decorated Town Hall building (the old library) hosted the ever-popular Colonial Dancers, as well as Santa’s Bake Shop. The Elementary School PTO raised funds for its programs, and The Inn at Little Washington donated its proceeds to the CCLC Scholarship Fund. A total of about $725 was raised by the bake shop. According to statistics, at least nine but of ten burglaries are preventable. For that unpreventable tenth burglary, check your insurance to be sure your coverage is adequate before leaving on vacation. To cover the other 90% of PREVENTABLE burglaries, here are some tips:
Obviously, you could equip your home with an electronic security system, but simple precautions are often just as helpful lrv diverting unwanted attention. Leave blinds in the usual position. Turn the sound on your telephone down so that it can't be heard outside. Suspend mail and newspaper deliveries. Arrange to have your lawn mowed. Use automatic timers to turn lights and perhaps a radio or TV on at appropriate times.
Check to be sure that ALL of your window and door locks are adequate to prevent break-ins. Put your cash, jewelry, and other valuables where no burglar can get to them—In a safe deprosit box. That extra trip to the bank can save you a lot of grief.
