There has been one reported accident this season, when a juvenile cut himself field-dressing a deer. There have not been any firearms accidents, however.
As an indication of the drop in hunting, Mr. Bankston said on the first day of both-sex hunting, a total of 75 deer were checked in the county. In past years there have been as many as 150 deer checked in a single game checking station on the first day of both-sex hunting.
The limit is three deer, or five with a special bonus tag. Of the five, one must be a buck and one must be an antlerless deer.

The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department held its regular monthly business meeting Dec. 4 and elected the following slate of officers for 1992: President Bruce Williams, Vice President Hubie Gilkey, Secretary Maybelle Gilkey, Treasurer Norma Settle, Assistant Treasurer Karen Williams, Chief Todd Brown, 1st Assistant Chief Jeff Williams, 2nd Assistant Chief Mark Dominguez, Captain Darren Williams, Lt. Evan Jason.
Rescue Squad officers elected were: Captain Jim Williams, Lt. Evan Jason and Board of Directors member Roy Baughman.
