The Amissville community welcomes Dr. Olan Parr Jr., DDS, MS and his family. Dr. Parr recently joined the staff of Dr. A. Wayne Breeden in Culpeper.
Dr. Parr was graduated from James Madison High School in Vienna in 1969. He attended VPI in Blacksburg, earning a BS in Biology in 1973 and an MS in Human Nutrition in 1976.
He married the former Deborah' Jeanne Wyatt of Augusta, Ga. on March 20,1976.
He completed his DDS in 1980 at the Medical College of Virginia and was then commissioned as a Captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. After finishing Officers Basic at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, he was assigned to Fort Jackson, S.C. where he completed a one-year Advanced Education Program in General Dentistry. He was then assigned to Fort Greely, Ala. from 1981 to 1983.
Dr. Parr then returned to Fort Sam Houston for a six-month Officers Advanced Course. From 1984 to 1987 he was assigned to Fort Knox, Ky. where he was a general dentist and again a resident completing a two-year advanced education program in General Dentistry. While at Fort Knox, he was awarded the Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1986.
His last military assignment was the Officer in Charge of the Vint Hill Farm Station Dental Clinic, Warrenton from 1987 to 1991. While at Vint Hill he did speciality work in dentistry and was awarded the Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1988 and became a Diplomate of the Federal Services Board in General Dentistry and was board certified by the Certifying Board of General Dentistry in 1989. Also in 1989, Dr. Parr became a Dip-. lomate of the American Board of Operative Dentistry.
