fitness awards
Nine students at Wakefield Country Day School have been awarded National Physical Fitness Award Certificates following their performances in the American Alliance of Physical Education fitness tests in their sports classes. i

Fifth grade recipients: Anna Hickson, Leonard Cowherd and Charles Cowherd.
Sixth graders: Landon Hutt, Andrew Inglis and Patrick Mulligan.
Seventh graders: Bridget Hickson and Kristin Hickson.
• Five Wakefield CDS student* won first-place awards recently in the Samuels Library Christmas Story Writing Contest, and one student won a second place award.
The first-place winners were: sixth-grader Lain Hart of Markham, seventh grader Andrew Nilan of Warrenton, eighth-grader Welby Lynn of Washington, Va., ninthgrader Colby Cowherd of Culpeper and tenth-grader Christa Franklin of Kearneysville, W.Va.
