Whether or not this international government is the “Kingdom of the Beast” in Revelations, chap. 13, is beside the point. While Hadrian did much evil to God’s people, the Jews (in 132 A.D.), he gave a breathing space to the Christians and a temporary relief from persecutions, allowing for expansion of the bishop-led church (which evolved into the corrupt Catholic Church of the Middle Ages—Mystery Babylon!). Hadrian’s lawmaking is still well thought of, and well reported in encyclopedias.
Personally I think that Bush’s New World Order is the prophesied Kingdom of the Beast, a coalition of super powers and so-forth: not a legitimate, representative government with soveriegnty over its member nations, as described in The Urantia Book.
God used pagan Rome in many ways which enrich us all today. Sometime evil men seem to be able to accomplish what “good men" can’t seem to get together. One example might be Nixon’s ending of the war in Vietnam (after Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson only expanded it), and opening relations with China— the great liberal goal of the time.
McCarthy might keep these things in mind, and also the fact that although he advised hippies to “Get Clean With Gene,” those who listened to him (I did not!) got clean of Gene, and all became Yuppie, get-itwhile-you-can Reagan supporters! My advice is for him to get them unwashed, torn, leather-patched blue jeans with homemade bell bottoms again.
