He noted that if the franchise agreement is approved, it will be another 18 months to two years before cable is extended to all the areas the company will cover in the county, and so it is not possible to say now what channels will be included in basic service or what that service will cost, but the cost in Rappahannock will be $2 more than Front Royal.
Mr. Burke said the company is continuing to expand the number of channels offered in basic service, adding C-Span, American Movie Classics and CNT, a country music station, starting next year.
Currently the channels offered include NBC affiliates in Washington, Baltimore and Hagerstown, CBS affiliates in Washington, Baltimore and Richmond, and ABC affiliates in Washington, Baltimore and Harrisonburg.
