Op Sunday, Jan. 17, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Ki Theatre on Gay Street, Washington will offer the first 15 registrants the chance to explore the relationship of music to Indonesian dance.
Musicians from Charlottesville’s 12 piece gamelan ensemble, and Javanese dancers who will be performing in the evening at 7:30, will teach workshop participants about, the background music that accompanies Indonesian dancers.
All will have the rare opportunity to play the instruments and experience through doing. No musical or performing arts experience is necessary, although performers are welcojne and will learn a great deal.
The cost of the workshop is $20. Advanced registration is necessary and can be made by calling 675-1616.
