To the Editor:
I would like to correct an error in the Dec. 23 article about the Rappahannock County Schools^ -expansion hearing. It was reported that I said “it would be better to drop music” than expect it to be taught on the stage. In fact, I stated that eliminating the band program would be a “disastrous” idea.
Music teaches children about diverse cultures, history, and science. It reinforces their mathematical and physical educations skills. Yet perhaps most importantly, music develops cooperation, discipline, and selfesteem. It is imperative that this county provide a quality music education program for all its students.
