Usually by this time of the year, the two honor graduates who will be the RCHS valedictorian and salutatorian are well known and the students are hard at work writing their speeches.
This year, while it is clear that Rachel Atkins will graduate with the highest grade point average in the Class of 1993 and be the valedictorian, three students are vying for second rank and the salutatorian’s position.
At the end of the first semester this year, Bryan Clark was in second place, but Laura Pendleton and Lori ; Paratore were hard on his heels.
Students with a 91 average, equivalent to a B, in any class may be exempt from the final exam in that class. But all three salutatorian candidates are planning on taking exams they could skip, if that means < the difference between an A and a B ' in the class. That could mean it will be Friday before the salutatorian is known.
