The supervisors also approved the $572,000 secondary road improvement budget. Mr. Gilkey made the motion to approve the budget, and that motion also passed 4 to 1. Mr. Massie voted “no” because part of the funds would be used for road signs for the E-911 system, and Mr. Massie has consistently opposed that program.
The supervisors unanimously approved changing the due date for county automobile stickers from April 30 to April 15. Treasurer Frances Foster had requested the change, because she said her work load is heaviest at the end of the month.
The supervisors approved “Bingo/Raffle” permits for the Sperryville and Chester Gap fire departments, noting that they will require that the departments submit all necessary paperwork.
They appointed Roberta Anderson to the Library Board to replace Lucia Kilby, who resigned.
The July meeting was set for Thursday the 8th at 7 p.m. because Monday July 5 is a state holiday.
