Support group to meet

Program at Library
Kids and parents! Come celebrate the start of summer on June 11 at the Rappahannock County Library. That evening, at 7:30 the Library’s First Friday Series presents its final program, “Wild Animals of Rappahannock.” Speaker will be Tom Blount, Supervising Ecologist for the Division of Natural Resources and Science at Shenandoah National park. Burke family reunion
The families of the late Lewis and Bessie Jenkins Burke will hold a reunion on Sunday, June 13 at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. Family members and friends are invited to attend, bringing a picnic lunch and beverage, and meet old and new friends. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m.
Teen dance planned
There will be a teen dance for ages 12-19 from 8 to 11 p.m. on Friday, June 11 at the Amissville fire hall. Refreshments will be provided. Admission is $2. For more information call Sheila Scott at 9374357.
Summer riding camp
Mountain Spring Stable’s first riding camp will be held June 15-19 for ages 7-16. All experienced levels are welcome. For more information or registration call 987-9545.
Helpers desperately needed
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department, RAAC, and RAWL are responsible for the parking situation on July 4th in Washington and the money collected is used to support the three groups. These organizations would like your assistance with this job. If you would be willing to help on the Fourth for 2-4 hours parking cars, please call Beverly Atkins at 675-3843 to schedule your shift.
Summer art camp
Middle Street Gallery will hold its annual Summer Art Camp this summer during the first two weeks of August at the Recreation Center in Washington. From August 2-6, Laurie Marshall (675-3267) will teach drawing and painting. From August 9-13, Jeanne Drevas (9873129) will teach sculpture and paper-making. Camp runs from 9-11:30 and cost $35 per week. There is scholarship help available. Call the artist for information and to register. The sign-up deadline in July 12.
